Redefine your Lifestyle

It has come to that juncture where Human pursuit for higher standards of living has irrevocably damaged their own home. Not the four walls that you pay rent to but the bigger host who charges you by your life expectancy. Like the 2 year old child curious to discover and explore its territory (your cabinet, store,  or kitchen) only to leave a path of destruction unaware of the multitude of damage but only acknowledging his/her celebratory achievements of climbing to new heights.

Climate Change is deeper than what your scientist so technically explains. The math and equations are always so hard to grasp but the facts are always the same.
  •   Fact: Yes, Carbon Dioxide levels are rising
  •   Fact: Yes, Green energy is the future
  •   Fact: Yes, my wallet gets dry when oil prices go up

All these facts lead to the same bottom line: Humans must change their lifestyles and climate change is a symptom of poor resource management:
§   An inability for homes to manage their own resources such as water, electricity and fuel.
§   An inability for industry to manage its supply chain

If efficiency, productivity, profitability are 3 words wholly preached as sermons in business courses in learning institutions, why can’t our managers manage our resources effectively to reduce waste. Our managers, directors lack strategic thinking to manage their resources in an efficient way, motivate their staff to embrace the organization vision and incite productivity to ensure profitability.

Are we paying the price for poor leadership?

Should we rethink our management strategies before we end up destroying ourselves?

The earth is a permanent tenant in the universe but you have an expiry date…

Cell Network: Aftermath of Ideas

Our personalities are defined by individualism (Utopia thinking huh) but we are attracted to community to drive our dreams, and ambitions for the sake of development. In other words ‘Humans Are a Social Bunch’. We love to meet up, chat and reflect, but how do we take advantage of a natural instinct to network and turn into constructive chatter towards the course of problem solving.

Intellectual banter

Cell Networks Forum, is an open space to bring together passionate people brought together, by interest on what WE can do, to generate ideas to solve today’s problems. On a rainy Saturday morning these people came together and did just that.

For the sake of constructive chatter we got Moderators to define the scope of work.
Who is a Moderator? Smart human (notice the gender balance) who are guru’s in their fields more than your average Joe. They shared their vast knowledge on climate change, environment, energy and sustainable development, to directing participant’s minds, from imagining the fancy ads in magazine of the promise for Nirvana to actionable steps towards community driven development.

Saucy… flowery… yes I agree. But when you put people in a room, with good air conditioning, ample food and sugary water mixed with flavoring, you are assured of brainstorming time before that sugar rush kicks in and you have to take everyone out for extra-curricular activities.

The big idea is to set ideas and let online contribution collaborate to design projects that are viable to be implemented in different communities.  Defined ideas have to fall under the ‘Parameters of Sustainability’.

Parameters of Sustainability

Ideas were centered on spreading the word to the nation about the danger climate change will pose. It was generally acknowledged that knowledge around climate change is centered on a select bunch of people who have challenges communicating the lingo to the general public.

 CELL ONE IDEA CARRIAGE
  • Community architecture
  •  Youth involvement
  • Behavioural change
  • Sanitation & electricity
  • Carbon credits
  • Greening schools: environment education & empowerment program
  CELL TWO IDEA CARRIAGE
  •  Approach to the Environment Economy:
  • Climate Change and provision of cheap green Energy
  •  Food Crisis and its ability to disable development
  • Financial Crisis and its renewed look at
  • Knowledge diffusion from experts to the general public. Which are the mediums to communicate with people in Urban and Rural setting?

Each team came up with fantastic ideas on how to tackle the issue of climate change. I’m not one to snitch but open the hood and check out what these great minds came up with and let your creative juices flow and contribute

A Big Thankyou to all participants and moderators.  We will be posting the output onto our website for online contribution and participation. You can email us

E: info@agesgroup.org if you would like the output emailed to you

Cell Network: The Inception

Cell network is an open space for passionate environmentalists to partake in discussions around environmental based issues to spur solutions.

CELL NETWORK

A cell is made up of 5 people from different disciplines. A topic is assigned to the group and a moderator to guide and advice the discussion. After brainstorming each cell produces a comprehensive report detailing what they have discussed. The cell will state what they resulting output will be:

- projects paper
- policy papers
- research papers

etc..

VIRTUAL PLATFORM

These solutions are then added to our web platform for the general public to critique, give feedback and add more meat to finally develop a concrete design document of a project, policy or research paper. Resources will be provided for the cell and contributers on different output raised.

PRACTICAL ACTION

If the output is viable to run as a project then a dedicated team of the Cell Network, AGES and AIESEC will implement it.

The first event : 16th April

The Begining

A bunch of young and slightly naïve minds sat down and discussed ideas on green energy. We discussed carbon trading to bio fuels to afforestation. What we came up with was truly interesting but needed to be cultivated into reachable objectives, workable strategies and a uniting vision. So for the next 2 months while working around school timetables and work deadlines we finally did.

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you the AGES Group. An non-profit organization that truly aims to preserve and sustain resources  through a paradigm shift in social and economic approaches. By sensitizing and supporting society in implementing innovative Green Energy solutions we believe we will create an impact on sustainable development by applying solutions not only developed globally but also locally especially from the African continent.

Imagine platform for forums, both online and physical, guided by academic and field experts, to exchange knowledge and resources while at the same time building a network of communities that create quality ecosystems management.

I dare you to join us!
